Tithing & Offerings

Reasons to Give

  1. Obedience to God’s Commands: The Bible emphasizes the principle of giving as an act of obedience to God’s commands. In various scriptures, God instructs His people to give generously and sacrificially. When we give, we align ourselves with God’s will and demonstrate our trust in His provision and guidance.

  2. Stewardship and Gratitude: The Bible teaches that everything we have comes from God. We are called to be good stewards of the resources and blessings He has entrusted to us. Giving back a portion of what we have received is an expression of gratitude to God and a recognition that all we possess ultimately belongs to Him.

  3. Blessings and Harvest: The Bible encourages a principle of sowing and reaping. When we give generously, it is likened to sowing seeds. In return, God promises blessings and a bountiful harvest in various forms, not just material wealth but also spiritual and emotional blessings

Scriptures from the Bible that pertain to tithing and offerings:

  1. Malachi 3:10 (New International Version): “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

  2. Proverbs 3:9-10 (New King James Version): “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”

  3. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (English Standard Version): “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

  4. Luke 6:38 (New International Version): “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
